2009 Mini-Grants
Funding opportunity for Duke Marine Lab Global Fellows
The Duke University Marine Lab seeks applicants for Oak Foundation Mini-Grants in Marine Conservation. These small grants are to be used to develop small-scale research, demonstration or environmental education programs in the home countries of Global Fellows Alumni. Competitive grants will be made to individuals in USD in the amount $1,000 to $4,000 to develop these projects. Awardees will be given half of their award amount at project initiation, February 15, 2009 and the other half upon filing a progress report, due May 15, 2009. A final report will be required by November 30, 2009, and must include project results as well as a financial accounting of expenditures.
Grant proposals should include a description of the proposed project, brief budget justification, and a short narrative history of your relevant conservation experience before and after your participation in the DUML Fellows program. Applications will be reviewed by DUML faculty, and we anticipate making 18 to 20 awards this year. Please limit applications to 3 pages in length, attach a brief CV, and submit to Debbie Pease via email (drpease1@duke.edu) or fax (252-504-7638). Applications must be received by December 15, 2008 in order to be given full consideration.
The continued support and commitment of The Oak Foundation partnered with the Duke Center for Marine Conservation to continue exploration and research to find solutions for our oceans in crisis. We encourage you to submit your proposal and continue to be a part of our collaborative efforts. As we all know, it will take all of us to make a difference.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email at the above address or phone Debbie Pease (252) 504-7636. She will be happy to assist you in any way that she can. I will look forward to hearing from each of you.
Sincerely,
Larry Crowder
